HPN begins operations in Maricopa County, Arizona, on January 1, 2012, initially focused on Medicare Advantage.
The Merkin Family Foundation establishes the Fund for Regenerative Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine at USC.
HPN partners with USC to establish the Heritage Institute of Clinical Studies — a population-health certification program for HPN employees.
HPN's reported enrollment crosses 806,000 members across California, Arizona, and New York. HPN's New York footprint takes shape through HealthCare Partners IPA in Queens, Brooklyn, and Nassau.
The Richard N. Merkin Prize in Biomedical Technology is established at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, awarded annually for transformative innovation in healthcare. The inaugural prize was awarded in October 2023.
HPN issues the “Healthcare Ratings Soar” press release announcing NCQA Elite status across all 9 affiliated California medical groups. F. William Studier receives the 2024 Merkin Prize.
Carl June, Bruce Levine, Isabelle Rivière, and Michel Sadelain receive the 2025 Merkin Prize for pioneering CAR T-cell therapy.
Graeme Clark, Erwin Hochmair, Ingeborg Hochmair, Michael Merzenich, and Blake Wilson receive the 2026 Merkin Prize for developing the modern cochlear implant, used by more than a million people worldwide. Honored at the Broad Institute, September 2026.
